House Insurance

D’OH!

Got a call from our lender today reminding me that I need to get house insurance before we close on Friday. I totally blew this off.

I got in touch with the recommended insurance broker, AmericanHome Insurance (who shares the same name as our lender, AmericanHome Mortgage), for a price quote. The quote seems kind of high, $984 per year. I swear that our home in CA was at least half that.

I questioned the cost and was told that prices have gone up due to the past flooding and fires. Uh, that is not my fault.

We had to have something in place or we couldn’t close on Friday. I will call our car insurance company and see what kind of price they can come up with.

The new insurance is Allied. Allied is part of Nationwide (Nationwide is on your side). Hopefully USAA (our car insurance) can do better.

Denver Zoo (New Lens Test)

 Michelle got tired of me asking if I could use her Fuji 100-400mm lens.  Really?  It's her damn fault for talking me into buying the new Fuji XT-4 in the first place... bitch. I found it on sale at Mike's Camera and with the rebate and free stuff they provided, it was hard to pass it up. Since fall is upon us, bird watching is pretty much out as they have mostly migrated to warmer climates.  Well, that is except for the ones at the Denver Zoo.  Camera, new lens and COVID Masks in hand, we headed out to the zoo. Well, as you can see, there are more than just birds there. The Fuji Lens blows my old Leica (Panasonic) 100-400mm out of the water.  BIG TIME.  The Fuji is sharp in the entire focal range.  A bit more pricier but the image quality speaks for itself.

Now We Wait….

I guess that we were a little anxious this morning. We set the alarm for 5am but we woke up at 4:30 and decided to get up. A few cups of coffee later and we were ready to leave. We took showers and double/triple checked the bags ensuring that we had everything we need. After placing the MacBooks in the backpack the true weight was realized. Due to the morning traffic, we took the toll road (E-470). We made it to the DIA in under 30 minutes but ended up in the wrong arrival lane (as opposed to departure) and drove around the airport aimlessly. Poor Travis. He has no idea how to get out of here. I gave him $3 for parking and sent him on his way. Within a half hour Travis posted that he has our house to himself while we are gone.
