Almost Done Packing

I have been writing and writing about the new house, I never stopped to write anything about packing up the existing house.

We have been slowly packing for the past few weeks but now it is crunch time. Today is Saturday, August 2nd and we move on the 8th at 8am.

We have a lot of it packed up already:

Basement: Packed (less the big screen TV)

2nd Bedroom: Packed

3rd Bedroom: Packed

Living Room: Packed

Comp Room: Packed

Garage: Packed

The kitchen will be packed tomorrow.

So, what is left you ask? The schnibbles and knickknacks that are here, there and everywhere.

One thing is for sure, we thought ahead and bought plenty of boxes. We actually ran out of box tape and we are about out of wrapping paper. Luckily there is a Self Storage place up the street and they sell U-Haul packaging supplies.

California, Arizona & Back Again

Well, Israel is a bust this year too... Time to visit the family via a road trip. We figure it will take two days of driving to reach California. Of course we will make planned stops along the way. First stop, Antelope Valley State Park in Utah. Only a hour drive from Salt Lake City. Jordan Day 1

It's been almost three years since we had payed for our trip to Jordan and Israel. THREE FUCKING YEARS! We finally went and had a great time. The trip lasted almost a month and we started our adventure in Amman, Jordan. We arrived a day early so we could acclimate to the time change (nine hour difference). We had purchased some Briggs and Riley high end luggage in hopes to carry them on the plane due to all of the recent horror stories of lost and or delayed baggage. No such luck! We were forced to check our bags at the gate in Denver. If we had known our bags would have to be checked, we would have brought a lot more clothes and a much bigger suitcase. We only brought six days of clothes (with an extra abundance of underwear and socks). The planes were on time and we arrived in Amman a bit tired and eager to get going. Now We Wait….

I guess that we were a little anxious this morning. We set the alarm for 5am but we woke up at 4:30 and decided to get up. A few cups of coffee later and we were ready to leave. We took showers and double/triple checked the bags ensuring that we had everything we need. After placing the MacBooks in the backpack the true weight was realized. Due to the morning traffic, we took the toll road (E-470). We made it to the DIA in under 30 minutes but ended up in the wrong arrival lane (as opposed to departure) and drove around the airport aimlessly. Poor Travis. He has no idea how to get out of here. I gave him $3 for parking and sent him on his way. Within a half hour Travis posted that he has our house to himself while we are gone. You would think that he would wait until we were out of the country before he posted that. I quickly sent him a response to his post. We are at the departure gate waiting for our plane to land.
