New Hardwood and Carpet

What were we thinking? We opted for the cheap ass carpet when we had the house built. We should have known better. The carpet started looking like shit after two years. Yes, we could have had it cleaned but that is only a temporary fix. The stairs were the ugliest so we decided to get a quote on getting hardwood installed on the stairs. Great idea but not financially friendly at this point in time. Basically, it would cost $150 per stair. We have sixteen stairs leading upstairs. Do the math. Second option was to get hardwood installed in all the rooms upstairs. Once again, not financially friendly. Third option (my suggestion by the way) was to get hardwood installed in the loft area, put new carpet on the stairs and all of the bedrooms upstairs. DING, DING, DING….we have a winner. Two days later the installers came to install the hardwood. Here are a couple of before shots:                 And now the after shots:    ...

Denver City Park

We tend to miss photographing the fall colors of Denver. Usually we shoot too early resulting in green trees or way too fucking late and those shots result in twigs and sticks. We end up driving for hours on end just to miss the fall colors. Not this time dammit! Why drive a couple three hundred miles when we can drive about ten miles to Denver City Park and shoot the “woods” there. You be the judge, jury and executioner. Executioner meaning execute your right to view these awesome shots with your eyes and judge for yourself that I am one kickass photographer. Oh, by the way, these photos were shot using an iPhone 7. Here is a video of the shoot:  https://youtu.be/bAzpRIuAp0Y Thank you for viewing my blog. I probably don’t say it enough but if it wasn’t for you (and I do mean you as there is probably only one person, you, reading this) I wouldn’t be writing this meaningless...

New Vehicle (Yeah, I know...Leave Me Alone)

With the famous words of Ned Stark, “Winter is coming” in my brain, we (yes, we) decided to replace my Scion Tc. After countless hours on websites we decided on a RAV4 All Wheel Drive. The reasons for picking a RAV4 is pretty obvious to us but let me spell it out for you. Every car that I have ever purchased has been a Toyota or Scion (which is basically a Toyota) except for a piece of shit Jeep Patriot which was returned to purchase the Scion Tc. Well, I will have to admit that “we” bought a Jeep Wrangler but since Michelle’s name is first name on the loan paperwork, I technically didn’t buy it. I only co-signed on the loan in case she kicks it (heaven forbid) and then the car would go to me. Dammit, since I am the bill payer in the house and the money for the payment comes out of our joint account, one could say that I did buy it. That would be something for the courts to decide. Michelle’s name appears first on the registration as well as the insurance card but since I pay for...

"Triple S" Arizona Trip

The Triple “S” (Schiller, Schrader and Sampson) Arizona Trip was great! We had a great time being with our niece, nephews and brother in-law. I was going to title this entry Triple S Arizona and Utah Trip but only one “S” (Schiller) went to Utah and it would pretty fucking stupid to say the “Single S” Utah Trip. Now that I have got that out of the way, let me say that Utah was great too. We left a couple of days early so we could visit Arches National Park and Monument Valley. We were able to squeeze in Valley of the Gods and Mexican Hat Rock as well the Road of the Ancients which is a road that does a lot of switch backs via dirt and gravel roads. The hardest part was getting Jules to her final resting place(s). We took Jules to Mather’s Point in the Grand Canyon and Buffalo Park in Flagstaff where Steve and Julie got married. We all said our goodbyes, shed a tear and hugged. I felt bad that it took so long to do this but as you know, the Triple S’s are never in a hurry to do ...
