Snowmobiling Mission Complete

3:45am wakeup call! Need to hit the road by 5am…which means 5:30 am Michelle time.

Winterpark is only 82 miles from home. Much better than going from the bay area to Tahoe!

We figured that it would take at least 2 1/2 hours to get there since a lot of people going skiing over the Christmas holidays.

It turned out that a lot of people decided to sleep in so it actually only took 2 hours to get to Winterpark. This included a stop at Starbucks for caffeine.

Since we didn’t actually have to arrive until 8am, we had time for a recon downtown and look for a place to eat lunch. We decided to eat at Smokin’ Moe’s. As the name implies, this is a BBQ joint. We actually ate here a couple of years ago during our first snow mobile trip. Good food. A little pricey but what do you expect in a tourist town?

There wasn’t a lot of people so we were able to check in, grab a helmet and insulated suite. We already had goggles, scarf and baklava. We bought some kick ass gloves at Cabella’s a couple of weeks ago especially for this trip.

After we signed the damage waivers and listened to the safety orientation, we were ready to mount our sleds.

We decided to go up to Corona Bowl first to get an overview of the valley below. Damn it was fricken’ cold up there. We need to get liners for our gloves. The snowmobiles have heated handle bars but our fingertips were getting frozen. We decided to make the Corona Bowl a short trip and explore other other regions of the area. At least it will be warmer below.

The rest of the day we rode around the rest of the park. I had my Go Pro Hero camera attached to my sled but after we were done for the day, I noticed that the camera fell off. The mount was still attached but the camera is gone. Unfortunately, all of the other pictures are on the Go Pro so I have not other pictures to offer but this one:

It was still a great trip. We will be going again this winter but I think we will be doing the afternoon run.

Jordan Day 1

It's been almost three years since we had payed for our trip to Jordan and Israel.  THREE FUCKING YEARS! We finally went and had a great time.   The trip lasted almost a month and we started our adventure in Amman, Jordan.  We arrived a day early so we could acclimate to the time change (nine hour difference).   We had purchased some Briggs and Riley high end luggage in hopes to carry them on the plane due to all of the recent horror stories of lost and or delayed baggage.  No such luck!  We were forced to check our bags at the gate in Denver.  If we had known our bags would have to be checked, we would have brought a lot more clothes and a much bigger suitcase.  We only brought six days of clothes (with an extra abundance of underwear and socks).   The planes were on time and we arrived in Amman a bit tired and eager to get going.   Our first hotel was the House Boutique Hotel which was really comfortable.  The hotel had a ro...

Drywall Has Started!!

We got an email from Courtney (our beloved sales lady @ Richmond/American Homes) stating that the drywall material was dropped off at the new house yesterday and they will start drywalling immediately. We went by the house today to take a look. We opened the front door and immediately saw four of the laborers sitting against the wall enjoying lunch (and a bit of music). I am not sure who was more surprised to see who! I should have snapped a picture of them sitting there with jaws agape. Definitely a Kodak moment. The upstairs is almost completely drywalled since the blew in the attic insulation earlier in the week and the ground floor is about half way done. I guess that they will start the basement soon. Did I mention that we opted for the finished basement? I probably did but I like repeating it since it will be cool to have a finished basement. Michelle stated that it will be a cool place to build a fort. Oh wait, I think she said that about the master bedroom walk in clo...

Rocky Mountain Arsenal and National Wildlife Refuge - Part Deux

Yes, I bought a new camera.  The new and improved Fuji XT-4.  The XT-4 is FAR superior than it's predecessor (XT-3) in all aspects.   You can blame Michelle for converting me to Fuji. Now, I must say, I didn't' blatantly spend money on this camera without having a plan. I sold my Nikon Z6 and associated lenses which more than paid for the Fuji.  I can honestly say that I feel good about buying the new camera.  The only regret that I have is that I didn't ask for more money on the Fuji "kit lenses" that Michelle and I had (27mm).  Fuji has NO stock on any of their lenses and I could have made a killing on the lens.  They both sold within minutes of posting them on eBay.  Dammit! So, you may be asking yourself what the fuck that this has to do with the RMANWR?  A test drive on the new camera.  Michelle was kind enough to let me "borrow" her Fuji 100-400mm lens.  Possession is 9/10 of the law.  It is now my possession. ...
