Bishop Castle - Rye, Colorado

Another Sunday...Another three hour drive.

We are so ready for our trip to Greece that we get easily bored on the weekends.  The weather has been really nice during the week but when the weekend comes, it is either cold, snowing, raining or windy.  Today it's windy.  To make matters worse, statewide.  But on the bright side, it is sunny and warm with a high of 67.

Googling things to see in Colorado, Michelle came upon Bishop's Castle in the outskirts of Rye.  The town or Rye is south west of Pueblo (just to get your bearings).  Sounds good to me.

Quick breakfast while we charged up the Nikon D500 and drone batteries.  I loaded the cooler with last nights kick ass dinner.  To much to type but you I am including a couple of shots of the meal we cooked using a Jerusalem Cookbook that we recently purchased.

In the car we go!  We figure we can make it under three hours depending on the traffic.  Sunday morning going south.  No problem.

We made it about an hour or so before the need to feed set in.  Quick stop for coffee pastries and back on the road we go.  About another hour went but then the need to purge the bladders kicked in.  What were we thinking.

I was not aware that Bishop's Castle is located in a higher elevation.  The temperature went from 65 to 51 in a matter of minutes.  Michelle of course knew to bring extra jackets (clever girl).  Once we got of the car, we knew we couldn't fly the drone.  Windy was an under statement.  30 to 40 mile an hour winds with 60 gusts.  Oh well, we were warm for the time being.

Without further rambling on my part, here the pictures.  You probably scrolled past all of the text just to see them anyway.

We spent about an hour or so there and got back in the car.  We stopped at a church parking lot in Rye to eat our lunch (which was quite good by the way) and then drive home.

We were lucky to be going north.  There was a massive grass fire on the west side of the freeway.  A couple more mikes up the road there was a car accident and about a mile past that accident was another accident.  No rubber neckers on our side of the road so we made it home in great time.  That's it.  Another day done.  Time for dinner.

Jordan Day 1

It's been almost three years since we had payed for our trip to Jordan and Israel.  THREE FUCKING YEARS! We finally went and had a great time.   The trip lasted almost a month and we started our adventure in Amman, Jordan.  We arrived a day early so we could acclimate to the time change (nine hour difference).   We had purchased some Briggs and Riley high end luggage in hopes to carry them on the plane due to all of the recent horror stories of lost and or delayed baggage.  No such luck!  We were forced to check our bags at the gate in Denver.  If we had known our bags would have to be checked, we would have brought a lot more clothes and a much bigger suitcase.  We only brought six days of clothes (with an extra abundance of underwear and socks).   The planes were on time and we arrived in Amman a bit tired and eager to get going.   Our first hotel was the House Boutique Hotel which was really comfortable.  The hotel had a ro...

Drywall Has Started!!

We got an email from Courtney (our beloved sales lady @ Richmond/American Homes) stating that the drywall material was dropped off at the new house yesterday and they will start drywalling immediately. We went by the house today to take a look. We opened the front door and immediately saw four of the laborers sitting against the wall enjoying lunch (and a bit of music). I am not sure who was more surprised to see who! I should have snapped a picture of them sitting there with jaws agape. Definitely a Kodak moment. The upstairs is almost completely drywalled since the blew in the attic insulation earlier in the week and the ground floor is about half way done. I guess that they will start the basement soon. Did I mention that we opted for the finished basement? I probably did but I like repeating it since it will be cool to have a finished basement. Michelle stated that it will be a cool place to build a fort. Oh wait, I think she said that about the master bedroom walk in clo...

Rocky Mountain Arsenal and National Wildlife Refuge - Part Deux

Yes, I bought a new camera.  The new and improved Fuji XT-4.  The XT-4 is FAR superior than it's predecessor (XT-3) in all aspects.   You can blame Michelle for converting me to Fuji. Now, I must say, I didn't' blatantly spend money on this camera without having a plan. I sold my Nikon Z6 and associated lenses which more than paid for the Fuji.  I can honestly say that I feel good about buying the new camera.  The only regret that I have is that I didn't ask for more money on the Fuji "kit lenses" that Michelle and I had (27mm).  Fuji has NO stock on any of their lenses and I could have made a killing on the lens.  They both sold within minutes of posting them on eBay.  Dammit! So, you may be asking yourself what the fuck that this has to do with the RMANWR?  A test drive on the new camera.  Michelle was kind enough to let me "borrow" her Fuji 100-400mm lens.  Possession is 9/10 of the law.  It is now my possession. ...
