Looks like we picked the wrong weekend to go on a hike. Winds in Golden are forecasted to be in the 45mph range. Oh well…We put off caulking the master shower long enough. We removed all of the old caulking and sealed all of the grout so it should only take a few minutes. Here is a picture of my caulk:

Michelle’s cousin Tara and her family came by for a visit last weekend. I guess it has been about two years since we last saw them. The kids have grown (duh, that is what they do) and we finally got to meet her husband, Jaime. It was a great visit. We pigged out on pulled pork, coleslaw and beer on Saturday night. Nobody got out of control and we all woke up without a hangover. The kids were itching for a bike ride Sunday morning so we all got on our bikes and road around then neighborhood and the nearby lake. Since the weather was really nice today (upper 50’s) we decided to do a hike in the Eldorado National Forest. The hike is called the Walker Ranch Loop Trail and is 7.62 miles long. Seems like a piece of cake but you have to remember that we are in Colorado and there are mountains. Normally a 6+ mile hike would take about 2 hours. Well, this took 4 hours and 50 minutes. We had to stop a couple of times to rehydrate and eat. The walk started at 7,200 feet and we ascended/descended 1,500’ along the way. Really peaceful and nice scenery.                  

We are very excited to announce our next trip….Machu Piccu and the Galapagos. There were quite a few trips to choose from this year: China, The Columbia Coffee Triangle, The Amazon , Ecuador and Brazil.. One thing was for certain this year, a trip below the equator. The Amazon was out due to the constant threat of Malaria and China was a little too expensive ($17,000 with the pre-trip and post trip extensions). Maybe next year (?). Since we got our Hepatitis A & B shots we are immune to hepatitis (less the type C) so we are free to roam other 3rd world countries. The only threat right now is Yellow Fever. Depending on where you enter Ecuador or how bad a day the boarder guard is having we might need to show proof of vaccination of Yellow Fever. I have to call Kaiser to see if they cover the shot or at least provide it at a lower cost. Walgreens, Rite Aid and the Public Health Departments offer the immunization for approximately $160. Finally got a new dining room table and a living room rug and a new light over the new kitchen table. Pretty cool huh?      

We have been slacking on making jewelry for quite some time now. We really don’t have an excuse other than it is butt ass cold in the basement (I refuse to heat it) but heat really isn’t necessary as we basically use the basement as a home gym. Ten minutes on the treadmill and you won’t need the heat. Looks like I got off track again….where was I. Oh, that’s right….jewelry making. Okay, we moved the jewelry making supplies up into mom’s room and mom’s room will be in the basement. I am 99% sure that the basement leak has been fixed (over a year and a half). Just waiting for a good rain or snow melt to confirm. We spent last Sunday making some new jewelry. Now we just need to post the stuff to Etsy. I know, this image and question has been on the internet for quite some time. If you ask me the cat is going downstairs. I believe this to be true because of the lip and riser on the stairs. I could be wrong but I doubt it since I am so smart. Prove me wrong. I dare you, I double dog dare you.
